ISLAND RACES (5K / 10K & HALF MARATHON)
The Island Races are inspired by the marathon which is a long-distance foot race with a distance of 42.195 km / 26.2 miles, usually a road race, but the length can be covered on trail routes. The marathon can be completed by running or with a run/walk strategy. There are also wheelchair divisions.
The Half Marathon, a distance of 21.097 km /13. 109 miles is derived from the Marathon because over time it was discovered that more people wanted an intro distance to Marathon, before actually taking up the full-distance challenge!
There will be a Series of Races 5K. & 10K held in each Island leading up to the final event in Providenciales.
Sign-up can be done below or in person at the Gustarvus Lightbourne Sports Centre. There will be a special sign-up opportunity at the Move- A-Thon event at Bight Park, on January. 14th, 2023
Information on possible training plans and guidelines can be found at the links below. These websites can be used by athletes to help build a "gentle progressive" program for practice to get to the 13.15-mile distance safely and comfortably!
